Joomla 1.5.20. Joomailer 1.2beta. Community Builder 1.3.1.
  1. Installed com_comprofiler and mod_cblogin.
  2. Installed com_joomailermailchimpintegration_v1.2beta.
  3. Enabled the Joomailer MailChimp plug-in and selected the appropriate mailing list from the list.
  4. Created a menu entry to link to the Registration page in CB.
  5. Added my Mailchimp API key to the Parameters in the Joomailer dashboard.
  6. Created a new field in CB for a checkboad to indicate a user has subscribed to a newsletter.
  7. Went to Components | Newsletter | Lists.
  8. In the Groups column, for the mailing list that I want users to join, click Manage then New and selected the CB checkbox that I created from the Assign CommunityBuilder Field.

When user completes the CB registration form and submits it, the user receives the confirmation e-mail and clicks the link. The user is able to log in.
The user list in CB shows that the user is registered.
The problem is that MailChimp is not updated to add that user to the selected mailing list.

However, I created a menu entry to Newsletter | Manage Subscriptions and put in my API key and this does allow me to modify the users newsletter settings.

What am I missing? Why doesn't the user get subscribed when they enable the checkbox on the CB registration form?

Exactly the same problem here. Anyone got any ideas? Ticking the box doesn't add the user to the mailchimp list.

Solved it. When using CB for user registration you MUST enable the "email confirmation" option - ie. the user must receive an email and click on the confirmation link to authorise the account creation. This information is then sent to MailChimp as authorisation for adding the user to the list.

Without that confirmation email, the MailChimp plug-in will not pass the details on the MailChimp. It's part of their T&C.

I've just checked this, and it works perfectly.

This is not solved!
jadrake claims that allowing email confirmation will work, but I have done this in Community builder registration and for some reason even if the check box is checked, the email is NOT appriopriately added to MailChimp EVEN AFTER users have confirmed their registration with community builder.
I have enable the system plugin ...

Also, is there a way for me to silently add users to a list using Joomailer?

Thanks,

G

Yes, you can add users directly to your lists in the Joomailer backend. As jadrake said, it's part of the MailChimp policy that you add only users to your list who gave you explicitly permission to send them emails. If you don't have permission and get to many complaints after you send a campaign you could get your MailChimp account blocked. That's why we endorse the signup plugin and why it only works when the users click a link in their activation email. That way you have a proof that they opted in to your newsletter.
However, in the Joomailer backend you can go to Lists and click the "Add users to lists". This page allows you to add your registered users to any of your signup lists without sending confirmation emails.

Grace, please post a link to your signup page or send it to pete@freakedout.de
