Newly Registered Emails Not Being Added to MailChimp Lists

Okay, so as I understand it, the checklist for using this plugin goes as follows:
1) Install Plugin & Component
2) Generate API key and paste in Component's API field
3) Change Plugin settings to determine which list you'd like new registers to sign up for and custom fields email is not available)
4) In the Component, under Lists, Manage the Fields settings for the same list designated in the plugin to reflect the same custom fields used in MailChimp.
5) New users see a checkbox in JomSocial registration allowing them to sign up for the newsletter
6) Users are part of Joomla ser database and MailChimp list

So here's my problem: Even though new users can sign up and check that newsletter box, they don't get added to the list I've designated in the plugin unless I go to the component and add them manually.

Is it because I'm missing the email field under Manage Fields for that list? I can't seem to relate that to a JomSocial field for emails, because it's not in the drop-down.

I don't get any error messages during the registration, and I've tried this with two different emails. Again, the only thing that works (because it works instantly and I can see it on my MailChimp site in two seconds) is to add them manually from the component.

Thanks!

Hello daycom,

You do not need to create a field for email because that field always exists by default. MailChimp wouldn't be able to send out newsletters if that field wouldn't exist ;)
Did you click the activation link in the email you received after signing up? Because the users wont show up in your list until they click that link. According to the MailChimp terms you have to use double opt-in which means you must use the activation feature in Joomla in case you disabled it.

Kind regards,
Pete

I figured it should be the case for an email address to be automatically added, however there doesn't seem to be an "activation" email sent to my new registered account. I'm testing this myself using an alternate GMail account, and I only got the one email from my site letting me know that I had been registered and could now log in.

Is there a setting to send that activation email that I may have turned off?

Yes, go to the Global Configuration in your Joomla backend and set "New User Account Activation" to yes. Then it should ask you to click a link in the email you receive after signing up to your site. After you clicked that link you will be added to the newsletter list.

That appears to have fixed that issue.

Thank you!

Hi Guys,
I actually did that as well, however I didn't get the right result. I am still not able to have information flowing from my website to the mail chimp database. I do see something interesting however, in the account details section it says that Plan Free
Emails Left 1200
Approved: NO

Does that mean that its not synced to MailChimp as yet? If Not what do I need to do to make this approved?

Hello Gaunder,

The account approval doesn't prevent emails being added to the list. Do you get the joomla approval emails at all? Does the approval link work? You won't see users on your list if the approval doesn't work.

To get your mailchimp account approved please contact the mailchimp support.

Kind regards,
Pete
